Market America Review - Scam Or Legitimate Opportunity?

By Dan Chapman

Market America claims to use an advanced form of technology that enables customers to customize products to suit their personal needs. It is then up to their international and independent distributors to sell these products in an Un-franchised business system. The Market America business was started in 1992 by James Ridinger. This article will take a closer look at what Market America offers you.

Out of the many work from home business opportunities we reviewed, market America looked like one of the best. Market America gives people who are looking to work from home a breath of fresh air, specially because the majority of the systems used are either pass up schemes or MLM (Multi Level Marketing). However strangely Market America does employ an MLM type structure. I would say that Market America is a new form of MLM, it requires its members to recruit more members (called downlines) for themselves.

Products

Market America does not make it’s own products but rather finds them and buys them at wholesale prices to sell. Now according to Market America’s business model, you need to but $1000 worth of products, then you need to continue buying the minimum every quarter. However according to them they say that their products are superior to other similar products available in the open market. Some of the products they sell are health and wellness products, skin care and nutritional products. They call their main product line a “Mall without Walls”, which is true since you can’t buy it in a retail store.

Compensation plan

You receive a commission off each purchase of these products, you also receive a commission off what your down line buys. you will need to at least recruit 6 or more people who purchase their monthly minimum regularly in order to see some success with Market America. Never the less the system does pay, and you can really run this business from the comfort of your home. We feel that for a newcomer the business might be a bit risky.

In order to start your business must have two sides or legs as they are called i.e. left leg and right leg. In order to qualify you will need to purchase a volume of 200-600 BV of the product which roughly amounts to $350-$1000. You are then also expected to buy several hundred dollars worth of support material. You also expected to maintain a 50BV - 150BV a month in purchases, depending upon where you are in the marketing plan.

Conclusion

We feel that Market America is a legitimate business opportunity that has a compensation plan that is solid. However how many people can actually afford to purchase $350 worth of products a month?. In order to be truly successful you will need to recruit a lot of people and further build your left and right leg. That is the only way you can start earning a solid form of residual income, from this business. We recommend that you have some online marketing experience before you start the business.
