Network Marketing - How Do You Recognize Your Team Members?

By Audrey Okaneko

Recognition in network marketing is huge. There are many people who thrive on the recognition that network marketing can and does provide them.

I’ll share two stories with you. Both happen to involve women. The first woman was involved in network marketing and was part of a very large group. What she received were constant reminders about how she could’ve done better. If she had only sold a bit more, her commission would have been higher. If she had only recruited a bit more, she’d be at a different level. Each time she was proud of her own accomplishments, her upline would come along and tell her that she hadn’t done enough. Over time, she quit. Her upline said “I guess it didn’t work out for her.”

The second woman was also part of a large team. She got congratulatory postcards. She got a wooden plaque that she proudly displayed on her wall. Her name was in each month’s newsletter. This woman went on to be recognized by the company as a top achiever. Recognition is huge and will often motivate someone to achieve more and more.

Are you recognizing your own team members? There are so many categories of recognition you can use to try and include as many people as possible. Here are some suggestions:

1. Most sales for the month
2. Most sales for the week
3. Most sales for the year
4. Most recruits for the month
5. Most recruits for the week
6. Most recruiting for the year
7. Most sales of one particular product for the month
8. Most customers serviced for the month
9. Most parties held for the month
10. Most online sales for the month
11. Increase over last year in sales
12. Increase over last year in recruiting
13. Increase over last month in sales
14. Increase over last month in recruiting

These are just fourteen categories you can choose to recognize your team members for. What about recognition for a first order turned in? What about recognition on the anniversary date that the distributor signed up?

You can call the team member to congratulate them. You can send them a postcard. You can put their name in your newsletter.

I really can’t say it enough. Recognition is huge. The more you recognize your team members, the happier they’ll be. Consider starting your own recognition program and watch your business grow.
